Your Local: The Old House
The Reader: Phil Vintin, chief elf @HelpSheffield
Why
is this ‘Your Local’? “Good food and good music. The menu
offers gluten free options and a wide selection of local beer.”
The Local: This eclectic Division Street late
night music junkie boozer offers 6 hand pulled ales and 12 draught taps
including many a continental and American craft beer from Anchor and Brooklyn breweries.
The hand pulls rotate offering beer from
the likes of Saltaire, Marble, Abbeydale, Kelham Island, Magic Rock and new
local start up Stancill (their Barnsley Bitter is a local award winner). House
ales can be purchased for £2.50 a pint Monday through to Friday 5-9pm making
this a destination not only for beer choice but for price too. Last month the
beer menu was revitalised and re-launched. They now showcase an extensive
bottled range with Belgian favourites St Bernardus, Urthel and Orval sitting
alongside quirkier European offerings from Norwegian innovators Nogne O.
Much like family Forum group venue The Broadfield, food is a high
priority with locally sourced ingredients and well thought through menu
options. Try the homemade rare breed pork and sage burger on a brioche bun or
the pan fried chicken breast with confit leg for mains between £8 -10. The Old
House cheese board at £6.95 is an ideal accompaniment to ale.
