Historically, Hip-Hop culture was born through a want to rid New-York's ghettos of gang violence, and to strengthen local communities. Through music, art, and dance, Hip-Hop's key message was to bring people together. Both Donald D and Alien Ness have been hugely influential in promoting the positive messages of hip-hop culture.

Donald D grew up in New York's Bronx throughout the 70's and 80's and witnessed the beginnings of Hip-Hop first hand. As a rap artist, he has worked along side the likes of Chuck Chillout, Ice-T and Afrika Islam. Also a Bronx native, Alien Ness has produced music with Hip-Hop godfather, Afrika Bambaataa, and has danced with the world famous Rock Steady Crew.

Fresh Jive has established itself as the biggest and most respected regular breakdance jam in Europe, dedicated to preserving the values of true Hip-Hop culture. A monthly event in Leeds, and now featuring around the UK, June '07 saw Fresh Jive labeled in the top 3 club-nights in the country - (Mixmag July 07 p.35). Check out:
